The Messiah Has Risen

Welcome to the MWO -- the Manning World Order. Did you ever think you would live in a sports generation were both of the Manning brothers are winners, the Red Sox have won two World Series in the last couple of years and the Boston Celtics are good again. Like every truth you have ever known in the world of sports has been thrown out the window. Having Gomer break through two years ago makes the Messiah’s win a little bit more tolerable.

But not much.

As much disdain as most of you have for the Messiah, you have to give the kid his due as a Super Bowl champion and MVP. Not every quarterback in the NFL could scramble around and heave a ball into the air to have his receiver make a miracle catch. Not every quarterback in the NFL can complete a pass to Plaxico Burress when the defender has fallen to the ground. No, you have to give him his credit as an NFL quarterback and think of him among some of the great quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl such as Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson and Mark Rypien.

You can no longer poke fun at the Messiah, as his name will go down with some of the greats who have won the Super Bowl MVP award, such as Larry Brown, Dexter Jackson and Desmond Howard.

Congratulations, Eli.

Today is a dark day. The clouds gathered over University of Arizona Stadium tonight (satellite campus), and God showed he is angry with us. Both Mannings have rings; the end is near.

But on the bright side, Grey Ruegamer, former teammate of such legends as Jake Plummer, Pat Tillman, Juan Roque, J.R. Redmond, Marvel Smith, Keith Poole, etc., etc. . . . well good ol' Grey got himeself a Super Bowl ring tonight.

Anyone think New England would have gone 18-0 if they were in a division with the Cowboys, Giants, Eagles and Redskins rather than the Dolphins, Jets and Bills? Damn, the Packers gave the Giants a better game than the Pats did.

Hobbs didn't fall down on Burruss' TD catch. Instead, he bit hard on the slant and played the part of the rented mule when Plaxico cut out to the flag. I can't remember seeing a CB beat so badly in a Super Bowl; I think there were dozens of people who bought tickets who were in better position on that play than Hobbs.

You can rip Manning all you want; I have in the past as well. But the guy made the plays that Hollywood Tom couldn't. And hey, Barry Cofield got a ring!

I can't wait to go to work this morning; I'm sure it will be like a funeral. There's even a book out on the Pats' perfect season. I guess they'll have to redo the final chapter.

People people people, if you want someone to blame for this tragedy that we've seen for the past two seasons, blame Roger Goodell. Ever since he became the commish, the Mannings have won Super Bowls. Before he took over, he, Peyton, and Archie were choke artists.

BTW, my word verification is "khzcsc", which, IIRC, was what Eli screamed when Brady's 4th down Hail Mary fell incomplete

On Novmember 7th, in this place, I commented:

" My preference would be for the Pats to go 18-0 (thus besting the Fins), then losing in the SB to a "vastly inferior" NFC team, kinda like when the Cards won the WS last year.

Fuck the AL and the AFC right in their ears. And the Pats, too, just for being in Mass."

Life is great sometimes, no? I even won 2 quarters of squares to boot.

Gisele Bundchen lost the game for the Patriots.

that game was proof that karma is real, and it can kick your ass.

Anyone else anxious to see if they make another one of those commercials featuring the smug Bostonian in the diner who said things like "Whats it called after you already have a dynasty"?

Was there a football game yesterday?

I saw a commercial with Will Ferrell in it about Semi-Pro, looks like a funny movie!

You leave Mark Rypien out of this!!!

Yes Wiseguy, there was a game. I'm guessing you didn't skip out on the bill this time.

elhllc - I think that's what James Carville said in that Coke ad.

HAHAHAH! Enjoy P. Rivers! I hear he is still yelling at the Colts crowd! You will never win a Super Bowl with Rivers at the helm! Buh Bye Baybeeeee!

A day has passed and it has not become easier...

The Mannings won the last two Super Bowls. And were the MVPs.

I just can't take it. If I kill myself, folks, remember me. Because like you all, I am a loser who nobody will ever care about beyond this website.

The comments need some steroids this week.

If your namesake means that you're an ASU fan, you have a lot more to feel like ass about than the Manning's being back to back superbowl champs. Derek Hagan's "here you go USC, I was going to catch this but you seem to want it more" move three years ago hurts way more than anything regarding the Colts or Giants. Or how about the 96 Rose Bowl, I feel like someone crapped in my mouth each time I recall that...

Like I said, blame Roger Goodell. Every year he's been the NFL Commish, they've won Super Bowl MVP titles.

Heck, I wonder if Archie were to coach the St. Louis Rams, they would somehow end up in the Super Bowl (where all the Rams players would somehow dedicate it to Georgia).

Massholes are sad. America is happy. The Giants did a great thing on Super Bowl Sunday.
