This move actually makes perfect sense. They will throw away next year with Norv so that they can fire him once Bill Cowher is done with his one-year sabbatical.

This move would make sense if Jimmy Johnson was going to run things. How could the Chargers end up with the worst possible candidate? At least Martz went to the Super Bowl.
I disagree with this hiring. at least norv gets to go to a place where there is talent! He had nothing valuable in Oakland. It's a shame that they hired him, it makes more sense than hiring dennis green though. Chargers go 10-6
