Joe Montana: Family Man

It is absolutely disgusting that people are questioning Joe Montana's motives for not showing up at the Super Bowl MVP celebration. Montana is a big family man. Why else would he have been married three times?

Joe Family Guy has had almost as many marriages as Super Bowl rings. A wife for every Super Bowl MVP. It's funny that family was never much of a priority for him when he dumped his high school sweetheart Kim Monses, after three years of marriage in 1977 when he was drafted by the 49ers. But it is a tradition for professional athletes (and entertainers in general) to dump your first wife when you finally make it to the big time.

Following the lead of great NFL players, like Frank Gifford, Montana moved on to a stewardess for wife number two. Cass Castillo was some sort of a looker, but she couldn't make it past the magical three-year mark (which incidentally was Montana's college number at Notre Dame).

Montana had other priorities, other than family, when he decided to move on. Montana met his current wife, Jennifer, while shooting a commercial for Schick razors. Montana was so smitten, he left Cass a "Dear Jane" letter at the 49ers front office to let her know that she was being replaced. Joe and Jennifer were married a year later. Montana received a little heat with this move said, "Maybe God wants Joe Montana to be happy."

The Lord also probably got in his ear about holding out for $100K, too. But who can blame him for asking for that money, those alimony payments must be a female dog. It's like Ted Dibase always said, "Every man has his price."

What would be your outrageous demands to post in the Hater Nation Forums.

I think Joe is off the hook for any alimony or other spousal support for the 1st 2 wives. He was only married for 3 years to each of them, and has been divorced from them for 20 & 25 years. If i'm not mistaken, all of his kids are with Ms. Schick.

I say Leave Joe Montana alone. What happened from his past is nobody's business but his. To me Joe is a family man. He is married to his third wife and has 4 beautiful children with her. So Lay off on him. He's the greatest quarteback in NFL history!!!!!

Joe did not meet Jennifer until a year after his supposed Dear Jane letter to Cass. His supposed Dear Jane letter was in 1983, he met Jen in 1984 and married in February of 1985. I know this because I used to work for him. Get your facts straight.

I grew up in the same neighborhood and went to High School with Cass and believe she deservred something better than she got with Joe. In my book, he should've dedicated himself in his marriage to Cass as his he did in his job on the football field. So what if his feats on the football are remembered more. At least I would like to be remembered more for the way I conducted my personal life.

I did Cass's nails for several years and she was one of the sweetest most loyal people I've ever known, to say nothing of being a natural beauty and completely devoted to Joe Montana. He didn't deserve her. Cass deserves sombody with as much class as she has and who loves her with the same kind of love she gives.

It was my understanding that she found out he was leaving her after a newspaper article was published. either way. Only the worst kind of pig would do what he did to her.

Cass Montana was a controlling, coniving whacko. And if he was so horrible, why keep his last name. Hmmmm, possibly because it meant money??!! I knew her, I saw how she operated. HE deserved better. And he didn't leave her for Jennifer. Didn't even meet Jen until a year later. I was a Niner girlfriend at the time and saw the whole thing play out.

A friend of mine told to me check out the Hater Nation blog.......so here I'am checking it out! I find the last comment from "Anonymous" quite interesting, especially when she wasn't living with Joe and I in our home! (Making comments like that is probably why she was only a girlfriend and not a wife!) Anyway, everything worked out the way it was supposed to. Who would have wanted to be married to a man who couldn't be trusted, and at that time, Joe couldn't be trusted! Thank you for your kind words...life is good and I'am happy!
Cass (Montana) Castillo

Too bad Joe can't leave an answer since its easy to take a point of view and not let the person answer....He was a great perhaps the greatest QB ever I was lucky to watch him before the NFL lost its appeal for me to watch as a sport anyway... I am sure that he is like any other person is a human full of flaws socially like the rest of us and yet this the easy focus of a hater and since the raiders have not been squat since they had Plunkett.... The sad thing is the reason why raiders fans are haters is their team are losers... I was a Raiders fan as a kid but their greedy Owner Al Davis moved from Oakland where lived by to LA when he didn't have to... He got screwed on the deal over time moved them back and they were never the same and by that time I was a niner fan and more over Joe was an inspiration for me because he was judged to be inferior and physically frail as QB's were rated then...and while Joe had his struggles physically mainly do to cheap shots it was just that cheap shots.... He has always been barged by haters with negative thoughts now his family man is the target... Get real is your life so insignificant that you have to pull a mans family into it and be so trivial as to even bring in the ex to comment... Is your life so special that you can judge and find fault in someone you don't know don't even accurately bring forth real facts or truths and is an opinion guided by the same loser franchise that you seem to thinks is stylish to be a fan of.... The raiders have only one a few things going for them... The 1970's silver and black Madden was their coach and so was Flores but the Snake is dead just like your hope to be winners as long the raiders live off its past and the losers who support them today! Leave Joe alone he is retired and living the dream his way not maybe your way but its his not yours!

Hey, just the facts ma'am. Worst phrase when trying to form opinions, which is what we are constantly doing, every moment of every day. Joe Montana has had a unique life. In the spotlight and with all the attention that goes with it, we become larger than life and humans make mistakes! Let he who has no faults cast the first stone here people, joe Montana has covered the important character bases while leading an incredibly prominent public life. 1. He married and had all the children with Jennifer, his current wife, makes a case for finally finding the right one based on the family commitment in them both. I have a few marriages behind me and will say I was as wrong as anyone when they all fell apart. 2. Every story has (2) sides and we are hearing it all from EITHER side, not a combination of the whole picture, I'm sure if you were put in this role the feelings you have towards people /coaches/girlfriends and wives/ MEDIA/family would change constantly, it's that way in regular lives too!! 3. Knowing your done and settling down , the right one came along and you are blessed, THAT comes thru too if you are watching Joe Montana live his life, his family rules.
Gotta get all that in, I have always thought Joe Namath and Joe Montana were the best, turned it all back on 'em and went out winners.

Did Joe really just "meet her in a Schick commercial?" Or did Joe see her on TV or in a print ad and ask his agent to set up some kind of way for them to meet and the Schick commercial is how it was done?

Didn't Joe have a baby with a waitress in the Bay Area? I remember hearing about that.

To anonymous at 2:02 pm, Don't believe everything you hear. No he did not have a baby with a waitress in the bay area. Geez. Anyway, this is to Cass. I am the one time girlfriend to a player that your responded with " that is why you were only a girlfriend". What I didn't mention is I became the wife a couple of years later, AT THE TIME you were "the wife" I was as you always liked to say, "only the girlfriend". I'm still the wife. He was a sucessful NFL player for 12 years and we have had a successful marriage for 34 years. HMMM, you are ONLY the ex wife.

I was a waiter in Park City circa 1990. We had this table one night and Cass was the head of the party. What a diva, full of unreasonable demands etc. At one point she pulled the 'dont you know who I am card?' I said, "No but Mr. John Cusack needs me on table 12" and walked away. Mr. Cusack actually was at #12 but didnt need anything, I just loitered and said I was avoiding the other table (big laughs). Got stiffed by the X Montana and 30% from Mr Cusack.

Not to mention the adult child he doesn't claim from a one night romp outside of a WVA bar back in the mid-70's! Time for a DNA kit and a camera crew!
